Songs rarely arrive whole. They arrive as phrases — a line you hummed, a figure you played at midnight, a chord that meant something for a moment. Most of them are lost by the next session.
A two-bar descent kept long enough to become a verse. A bridge variation revisited until it knows what it is. The fingering still recognizable, months later.
